PETE GLEASON STRONGLY SUPPORTS NORTH TRIBECA REZONING
Pete Gleason, Civil Rights Attorney and Tribeca resident running in this year's Democratic primary for the 1st City Council District, applauded Community Board One's North Tribeca rezoning plan.
Speaking to supporters, Gleason said "For too long, downtown residents have been at the mercy of big developers while City Hall did nothing to protect us. After many years of waiting and negotiation I was happy to hear that Community Board One and the residents of North Tribeca had unanimously agreed to go forward with a comprehensive and community friendly rezoning plan." The Plan both protects existing residents from over-development and loss of light and air while at the same time adding the affordable housing component badly needed in the district.
Gleason continued, "This rezoning is a great example of the community working together to build a better future for our families. As your
City Councilmember, I will continue to fight for the infrastructure - in particular the school facilities - needed to support the change
in zoning from commercial to residential zoning use."
